Embassy Court is a corroding Art Deco masterpiece
that was one of the most desirable and sought-after addresses in Brighton
and Hove.
Built in 1935 and designed by Wells Coates this, 1930s Art Deco building
once housed its own restaurant and bank. Writers, comedians and film stars
inhabited its penthouse suites and its brochure listed it as Britain’s
first tenant block to offer garage space for an automobile.
Sadly, it has suffered from years of neglect and tenant –landlord
writs that have left its once streamlined, silky exterior crumbling and
in desperate need of more than a little TLC.
A mixture of pride, anger and optimism persist in residents and locals
over at the ever-changing fate of this important building.
